CBT is the treatment of choice for depression, anxiety and anger. NICE guidelines for therapy in the NHS are that for depression and anxiety, CBT should be offered and refused or tried and failed before other talking therapies may be offered. For depression, IPT (Inter-Personal Therapy) can also be used.
CBT is focused, practical and solution focused. CBT treatments are evidenced as being effective. CBT involves a process of learning to change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving in order to feel better.
